China Expands Downtown Dutyfree Stores Nationwide
Five government departments, including the Ministry of Finance, have issued a new policy for downtown duty-free shops, effective October 1, 2024. The policy integrates the existing six downtown duty-free shops under unified management, facilitates the transformation of foreign exchange duty-free stores, and authorizes the establishment of new shops in eight cities, including Guangzhou, Chengdu, and Shenzhen. This initiative aims to stimulate urban consumption potential through standardized management and strategic regional expansion.
