In court documents, Amazon asserts these deceptive practices erode consumer confidence, create unfair competition for millions of honest sellers, and tarnish Amazon's brand reputation. The company seeks court orders to prevent King's operation from selling fake reviews, demands disclosure of participating sellers and ill-gotten profits, and requests compensation for damages and legal costs.

Brazen Marketing of Fraudulent Services

Auction Sentinel's website boldly advertises itself as the "#1 marketplace for third-party sellers," offering services for platforms including Amazon, eBay, Etsy, and Walmart. Its "Amazon Feedback" packages explicitly promise to help sellers quickly improve store ratings through "real purchases converted into 5-star reviews." These range from a $300 basic package for 10 reviews to an $800 enterprise package for 100 reviews.

More alarmingly, the company provides "stealth" selling accounts for merchants suspended by Amazon or seeking to circumvent policies against multiple accounts. Auction Sentinel defends these services on its website, claiming Amazon frequently suspends sellers for trivial reasons and positioning itself as protecting seller "rights"—a stance Amazon views as contempt for platform governance and consumer protection.

Expanding Anti-Fraud Efforts

While this marks Amazon's first legal action against a review broker, it continues broader efforts against fake reviews. Last month, Amazon sued administrators of over 10,000 Facebook groups allegedly coordinating misleading product reviews for profit. One such group, "Amazon Product Reviews," boasted more than 43,000 members. Since 2020, Amazon has reported over 10,000 fake review groups to Meta, resulting in approximately half being removed.

Amazon's anti-fraud initiatives extend beyond reviews. Last year, the company filed lawsuits against 170 individuals and businesses for selling counterfeit goods and referred over 600 cases for investigation globally. Recent court filings reveal Amazon has invested over $900 million and employs 12,000 personnel in fraud prevention, blocking more than 2.5 million suspicious seller accounts.
