Industry leaders join forces to create efficient, reliable, and sustainable logistics solutions

As global supply chains face unprecedented challenges, with efficiency, reliability and sustainability becoming critical competitive advantages, CEVA Logistics has announced a significant expansion of its partnership with transportation and logistics giant Ryder. The new agreement includes the addition of more than 1,000 full-service leased trailers, substantially enhancing CEVA's domestic ground transportation capabilities in the U.S. market.

Strategic Upgrade: Strengthening Ground Transportation Capacity

The newly leased trailers will primarily support CEVA's domestic ground transportation operations, particularly its Ground and Freight Management divisions. Company executives emphasized that this collaboration represents a strategic choice to establish a solid foundation for future capacity growth.

Currently operating approximately 4,700 trailers across 200 U.S. locations, CEVA offers comprehensive ground transportation services including full truckload and less-than-truckload (LTL) shipping, dedicated fleet services, intermodal marketing, and transportation brokerage.

A CEVA spokesperson highlighted multiple benefits of the partnership: "There were numerous reasons for entering this lease agreement with Ryder, including superior maintenance options, improved fuel efficiency aligning with our sustainability goals, and enhanced service offerings for our customers." The spokesperson added, "CEVA's strategy involves developing a more standardized fleet featuring side skirts, low rolling resistance tires, satellite tracking, and automatic tire inflation systems—features that significantly appeal to our clientele."

Three Decades of Collaboration

The CEVA-Ryder relationship spans nearly 30 years, having evolved from modest beginnings with a few power units to the current fleet of over 200 power units. Earlier this year, CEVA renewed its contract with Ryder for 1,044 trailers, bringing the total leased vehicles to more than 1,244.

The 10-year agreement includes dedicated fleet coordination services with GPS tracking capabilities. Ryder will also provide "mobile maintenance" support across seven of CEVA's North American hubs, ensuring optimal fleet performance.

Operational Advantages

When asked about the partnership's primary competitive advantage, the CEVA spokesperson identified full-service leasing as the key benefit. By transferring maintenance responsibilities to Ryder, CEVA can focus on core competencies including customer service, business development, and technological innovation.

Robert Sanchez, President of Global Fleet Management at Ryder, stated: "Ryder values its partnership with CEVA and is proud to support the fleet needs of such a respected company. We look forward to providing viable solutions that support their current and future growth."

Technology Integration

The collaboration extends beyond equipment to technological integration. GPS tracking systems enable real-time monitoring of trailer locations and status, optimizing routing efficiency. Advanced features like automatic tire inflation systems reduce operational costs while enhancing safety.

Ryder's mobile maintenance program provides regular inspections and preventive maintenance, minimizing service disruptions and ensuring reliable transportation services for clients across automotive, technology, consumer goods, energy, and industrial sectors.

Sustainability Commitment

Environmental considerations played a significant role in the partnership. The leased trailers incorporate eco-friendly technologies including low rolling resistance tires that reduce fuel consumption and carbon emissions—aligning with CEVA's sustainability objectives and broader industry trends toward greener logistics solutions.

Future Outlook

This expanded partnership represents more than a simple leasing arrangement—it reflects a long-term strategic alliance between two industry leaders. By combining their respective strengths, CEVA and Ryder aim to drive innovation in logistics, delivering superior service quality and operational efficiency while addressing evolving market challenges.

The collaboration exemplifies emerging industry trends emphasizing technological advancement, operational optimization, and sustainable practices—setting a benchmark for logistics providers navigating today's complex supply chain environment.
