Global third-party logistics (3PL) provider CEVA Logistics has officially opened its new logistics park in Panama City, significantly expanding its operational capacity in the strategic Central American hub.
The 4,400-square-meter facility, located in Parque Sur Industrial Park, triples the company's previous space with 7,000 pallet positions and features 10-meter-high ceilings. Its prime location near Tocumen International Airport and major highways positions CEVA to better serve regional and global supply chains.
Strategic Expansion
The new facility represents both an upgrade to existing operations and a strategic investment in future growth. Since establishing operations in Panama in 2005, CEVA has grown to serve 300 clients across the country with additional operational sites at Tocumen Airport Cargo Terminal and Colón Free Trade Zone.
"Customer demand was the key driver for this expansion," a CEVA spokesperson stated. "We need to ensure we have sufficient space to support our clients' growth opportunities as they expand their global operations."
Enhanced Capabilities
The logistics park incorporates advanced operational features including:
- Electric ramps for seamless truck loading/unloading
- RedPrairie Warehouse Management System (WMS) for inventory control
- Heavy-duty racking systems designed for increased load capacity
The facility triples the number of loading docks available for freight management operations, including air, ocean, trucking and domestic cross-docking activities.
"Our previous facility was operating near capacity," said Edgar Urrutia, CEVA Logistics Country Manager for Panama. "This new warehouse allows us to continue growing while meeting the strong market demand for logistics services."
Panama's Strategic Advantages
Panama serves as a critical node in global trade networks due to its unique geographic position. The Panama Canal connects Atlantic and Pacific shipping lanes, while Tocumen International Airport functions as a major Latin American air hub. The Colón Free Trade Zone ranks among the Western Hemisphere's largest free trade areas.
Comprehensive Service Portfolio
CEVA's Panama operations provide end-to-end supply chain solutions including:
- Freight management across all transport modes
- Contract logistics services including warehousing and distribution
- Value-added services like labeling and quality inspections
The company emphasizes technology integration to improve operational efficiency, with the WMS enabling real-time inventory tracking and management. Sustainability initiatives include energy-efficient lighting and water conservation systems throughout the new facility.
As part of CMA CGM Group, one of the world's leading shipping and logistics companies, CEVA Logistics maintains operations in over 170 countries with more than 110,000 employees globally.
