As the sudden shadow of the pandemic loomed, the pet industry faced unprecedented challenges. On February 4, the Asia Pet Association (APA) issued an industry-wide initiative calling on pet professionals nationwide to actively respond to national epidemic prevention measures and jointly build a safety net for the sector.
The initiative's core lies in achieving industry self-rescue through self-discipline, scientific approaches, and mutual assistance, while safeguarding both pet and public health.
The proposal outlines three critical actions. First, the industry must strengthen self-regulation and internal audits, comprehensively improving professional standards and safety awareness among practitioners to ensure all business premises meet hygiene and epidemic prevention standards.
Second, professionals should assume social responsibility by disseminating scientific pet care knowledge. This aims to guide the public in rationally addressing pet ownership issues during the pandemic, preventing unnecessary panic and abandonment of animals.
Finally, the initiative calls for industry-wide solidarity through information sharing and resource coordination to collectively address pandemic-induced challenges and maintain stable sector development.
The APA's initiative seeks to consolidate industry strength through practical actions that support epidemic control efforts, protect animal welfare and public safety, and prepare for post-pandemic recovery.
