Amazon sellers operating in Europe and the UK are entering a critical compliance period, with three major regulatory deadlines approaching before year-end. Failure to meet these requirements may result in product delistings or account suspensions, potentially disrupting peak holiday sales.
General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR) Deadline: December 13
The most pressing requirement is compliance with the EU's General Product Safety Regulations (GPSR). By December 13, sellers must display all required safety information and warnings on product detail pages and appoint an EU Responsible Person. After uploading this information, sellers must verify that their submissions are properly saved, indicated by a dark blue highlight on the platform interface. Physical product labels must also be updated to include four essential safety elements.
Tax Compliance and Country of Origin Requirements
Amazon has mandated that all sellers update their tax identification information by December 30. Accounts failing to provide this information will face sales restrictions. Additionally, by December 31, merchants must declare the country of origin (COO) for all products sold in European and UK marketplaces. Products without proper COO designation may be blocked from circulation or removed from the platform entirely.
These compliance measures represent fundamental operational requirements rather than optional enhancements for cross-border e-commerce businesses. Sellers are advised to immediately review their compliance dashboards and confirm fulfillment of all obligations. In an environment of increasing regulatory scrutiny, proactive adherence to platform rules has become essential for maintaining business continuity and preventing financial losses.
