Shine Optical Raises Millions to Transform AI Glasses Sector

As smart glasses transition from science fiction to everyday reality, the technological innovation and market competition behind them are intensifying. Shenzhen-based AI hardware company Shanji Technology recently completed a nearly $14 million Series A+ funding round, signaling the beginning of a new phase in China's smart glasses race.

Funding Background and Strategic Expansion

Founded in 2020 by former Gree engineer Zhang Bo, Shanji Technology specializes in AI glasses, charging/storage products, and data storage solutions. The latest funding round was led by Planck Ventures, Skyworks Venture Capital Fund, and Wuhan Lingkong Port Economic Development Zone, with several other institutions in the final stages of investment.

The capital will be allocated across three key areas:

  • Establishing personalized flexible production lines for next-gen AI glasses
  • Developing memory computing integrated server clusters for active AI capabilities
  • Expanding global market presence to export China's leading AI glasses technology

Technical Breakthroughs in Next-Generation AI Glasses

Enhanced AI Capabilities

Shanji's upcoming product integrates a multimodal AI memory engine developed with Silicon Valley's Memories.ai, capable of converting real-time audio/video into structured memory content. The proprietary Loom OS 2.0 system enables cross-device synchronization and collaboration with over a dozen major Chinese AI models.

Advanced Display Technology

The company partnered with Appotronics to implement its proprietary "Dragonfly Light Engine" display solution, which significantly reduces power consumption while solving compatibility challenges between flexible frames and binocular 3D display structures.

Hardware Innovations

The new glasses feature a 4nm main control chip and premium Bluetooth chipset, with the body constructed using five-axis CNC machining, polymer composites, and titanium alloy - reducing weight to under 50 grams while improving durability.

Competitive Landscape and Market Outlook

China's smart glasses market has seen explosive growth since Shanji launched its first product, with tech giants like Xiaomi, Lenovo, Baidu, Alibaba, and Li Auto entering the space alongside startups including Rokid, Leinuo, and XREAL.

According to industry analysts, global smart glasses shipments are projected to reach 406,500 units in the first half of 2025, representing 64.2% year-over-year growth. China is expected to account for 26.6% of global shipments, establishing itself as a core growth market.

Future Trends and Challenges

The smart glasses industry is evolving toward greater intelligence, lighter designs, and personalization. Future devices will emphasize:

  • Enhanced AI capabilities for voice interaction and image recognition
  • Improved ergonomics for extended wear comfort
  • Customizable functionality and aesthetics

While Shanji's latest funding and product development demonstrate strong momentum, the company faces significant challenges in maintaining technological leadership and establishing global market presence amid fierce competition.
