Cross-border e-commerce sellers will soon no longer need to grapple with complex Thai import tariff calculations. TikTok Shop has announced that starting January 21, 2026, its Southeast Asian cross-border platform will uniformly collect import taxes for direct shipping orders to Thailand, streamlining processes and reducing operational costs for sellers.
Under Thai customs regulations, all goods with a declared value of 1 baht or more are subject to import duties. To help sellers estimate costs in advance, TikTok Shop will provide estimated tariff amounts, allowing merchants to adjust product pricing and develop more competitive sales strategies. This move aims to enhance pricing transparency and help sellers better manage profit margins.
Notably, the platform-collected import taxes will not be included in the calculation base for platform fees. This means sellers will pay proportionally lower platform fees per order, further reducing financial burdens and improving profitability. The policy is expected to make TikTok Shop more attractive to cross-border sellers, likely attracting more merchants to join the platform and expand product variety, ultimately enhancing the shopping experience for users.
This policy adjustment not only simplifies cross-border e-commerce operations in Thailand but also delivers tangible cost advantages for sellers, signaling TikTok Shop's broader growth prospects in Southeast Asia.
